Our Story
Founded by husband-and-wife team David and Leslie, B1Clothing Co. was created from a simple but powerful belief: Black American history, culture, identity, and legacy deserve to be represented with purpose.
Rooted in Detroit, B1Clothing Co. is a Black-owned heritage apparel and lifestyle brand built to tell our story through fashion. What began as a commitment to cultural representation has grown into a broader mission—preserving Black American history, honoring the legacy of Black American Freedmen, and creating products that connect identity, education, and style.
The name B1 stands for BLACK FIRST®.
For us, BLACK FIRST® is more than a name. It represents knowing who we are, understanding where we come from, honoring those who came before us, and carrying that legacy forward with intention.
Every collection we create is guided by that purpose. From heritage apparel and historical storytelling to interactive experiences and elevated designer pieces, B1Clothing Co. is built to celebrate the depth, resilience, creativity, and legacy of Black America.

B1Clothing Co. exists to preserve, celebrate, and carry forward the history, culture, identity, and legacy of Black Americans through purposeful fashion and cultural storytelling.
Our mission is to create apparel and lifestyle products that do more than look good. We design pieces that connect people to the stories, achievements, resilience, creativity, and contributions of Black American Freedmen while presenting that heritage with the quality and intention it deserves.
Through heritage-inspired apparel, interactive educational experiences, historical storytelling, and elevated design, we are building a brand where culture and fashion work together to keep our story visible for generations to come.
