During the Civil War, Harriet Tubman’s fight for freedom extended far beyond the Underground Railroad. Working with the Union Army in South Carolina, Tubman used intelligence gathered through a network of scouts and informants and helped lead the historic Combahee River Raid of 1863, an operation that liberated hundreds of enslaved people.
